Rio-Ryan Haryanto The Spectacular Season BOLA, 23 December 2008 This year become a spectacular season for Ryan Haryanto (20) and Rio Haryanto (15), two drivers who are still brothers. Both of them chalked up well enough achievements in all sorts of international races. Rio succeeded being the youngest racer who was successful being the champion of Asia category of Formula Asia 2.0 championship. In overall classification of international class, the son of ex-gocarter Sinyo Haryanto counted threes. It was a great achievement because it was the first time that Rio drove Formula car of late. His performance was attractive enough in gokart championship. He sat on fourth place in an international gokart race this season. Rio who took chance to participate in Formula One as the summit of his career later on told that his success was gained because of his parents’ support. “Without them, I won’t be like right now,” said Rio to BOLA in Zhuhai, China, last week. Rio’s performance in Formula Renault Asia was also impressive. Just down on 7th place of 14 series, he was on 3rd place in Asia category. He even had three times of champagne party because of climbing the first podium of international level. In this race event, Ryan was the runner up of Asia class which was higher than his younger brother. “I ought to be able to be the champion if in the five last series my achievement was steady like in some earlier series. Switching over the car in the mid-season made my performance went down. It needed time to adapt with a new car which had different part,” uttered that driver who flagged Kiky Djarum Black Racing.(yos)
